When calculating the mechanical deformation of a viscoelastic material such as rubber by a computer, the first network element expressing the mechanical deformation as a non-linear elastic characteristic and the viscoelastic characteristic of the mechanical deformation expressed using a viscoelastic parameter. A computer is made to create a model in which the second network element, which is a network element and the viscoelastic characteristics change according to the magnitude of the mechanical deformation, is connected in parallel. Thereafter, a physical quantity representing the mechanical deformation of the viscoelastic material is calculated by the computer using the model. The second network element includes a switching function that sets a value of the viscoelastic parameter according to the mechanical deformation.
