Factor VIII variants and uses thereof are disclosed. In certain embodiments, the Factor VIII variant is expressed more efficiently by the cell than the wild type Factor VIII protein, and is secreted at an increased level by the cell than the wild type Factor VIII protein. It exhibits enhanced activity compared to the type of factor VIII protein and is more efficiently genomically integrated into the viral vector.
