A system for estimating values of parameters of a battery includes a battery management system, BMS, and a server for communicating with the BMS. The BMS includes a modeling module, an acquisition module, and a first communication module. The server includes a second communication module and an operation module. The modeling module is configured to create an equivalent circuit model for the battery. The acquisition module is configured to collect voltage and current data of the battery. The operation module is configured to use particle swarm optimization to analyze and process the collected data, to obtain optimal solutions of a plurality of parameter of the equivalent circuit model. The modeling module is further configured to update values of the parameters of the equivalent circuit model, according to the optimal solutions. The present invention further provides a method for estimating values of parameters of a battery.
