The subject of the application relates to a method for diagnosing a NOx storage catalyst during the operation of an autonomously driving vehicle. The method uses the control of a transmission gear, an internal combustion engine and an exhaust gas recirculation loop, as well as the possibilities of autonomous driving, so that there are favorable operating conditions for the regeneration of the NOx storage catalyst. The invention further comprises a device designed to carry out the method and a vehicle which comprises a device designed for carrying out the method.
