A filtration device is proposed for dividing a particle-laden liquid into a particle-reduced permeate and into a particle-enriched retentate with a filtration membrane (1) through which the liquid can flow in or through a flow direction, the permeate side (3) of the filtration device from a retentate side (2) of the filtration device wherein the filtration membrane (1) is designed in particular for filtering the liquid in the microfiltration or ultrafiltration region, and with a pump device by means of which a pressure of the liquid can be fixed on the permeate side (3) and on the retentate side (2) the pressure of the liquid on the permeate side (3) differs in magnitude from the pressure of the liquid on the retentate side (2), and with a feed (5) for the liquid, a discharge (6) for the permeate and a discharge (13) for the retentate. This filtration device is characterized in that by means of the pump device, the flow direction of the liquid through the filtration membrane (1) is repeatedly reversed in time, wherein in a time averaging the pressure of the liquid on the retentate side (2) is greater in magnitude than on the permeate side.
