A telephone number extracting apparatus is disclosed. The telephone number extracting apparatus can precisely determine an area including a telephone number in a photographed image and extract a telephone number from the corresponding area. The telephone number extracting apparatus calculates the median value of the histogram of the photographed image and determines the two threshold values of the canny operator by using the calculated median value. Since the determined threshold value reflects the characteristic of an image, the telephone number extracting apparatus can accurately determine the area including the telephone number even if an image to be extracted is changed. The telephone number extracting apparatus can display the extracted telephone number and receive the gesture of a user. The telephone number extracting apparatus includes a receiving part; a maximally stable extremal regions (MSER) technique application part; a threshold value determination part; a canny operator application part; a post-processing part; and a user interface part.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
