The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or treatment of a Th1 or Th2-mediated immune disease comprising 4H3MC (4-hydroxy-3-methoxy cinnamaldehyde) as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, the 4H3MC (4-hydroxy-3-methoxy cinnamaldehyde) of the present invention has an effect of inhibiting the activity of T cells without inducing the death of T cells. Therefore, the 4H3MC (4-hydroxy-3-methoxy cinnamaldehyde) of the present invention can be developed as an effective therapeutic agent for Th1 or Th2-mediated immune diseases.
