A control system and method for ensuring robust performance while mitigating the chattering phenomenon is disclosed. The control system includes a sliding mode controller and a sliding mode disturbance observer for compensating offset disturbances. Here, the sliding mode controller compensates disturbances other than the offset disturbance in the disturbance.
