The present invention provides a virtual machine recognition virtual flash translation layer. According to the present invention, a mass storage device comprises a flash memory including first and second sets of physical blocks and a controller configured to perform a first virtual flash translation layer instance and a second virtual flash translation layer instance. The first virtual flash translation layer instance receives storage access requests connected with logic page numbers, and is configured to generate the storage access requests connected with physical page numbers in the first set. The second virtual flash translation layer instance receives the storage access requests connected with the logic page numbers, and is configured to generate the storage access requests connected with the physical page numbers in the second set.
