The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating mental disorders comprising a Fomes formentarius extract and an Acer tegmentosum maxim extract as active ingredients, which controls the expression of inflammatory cytokines induced by hyper-activated hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, and in which the Acer tegmentosum maxim extract reduces the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and sugar corticoid induced by the HPA axis, thereby being excellent in preventing or treating mental disorders, having little side effects on a human body as a natural material, and being easily manufactured and consumed.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
