The present invention teaches kits and methods for the treatment of patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and / or facial flushing by administering a mixture made with a combination of long-acting topical anesthetics in combination with clonidine . The combination of the two agents provides a significant increase in duration and onset rate of sympathicotomy, an increased intensity of sympathicotomy, as well as a local decrease in local anesthetic absorption. The combination significantly improves efficacy, onset rate and block strength of the right neck sympathetic ganglion (RCSGI), thereby increasing the resolution period of PTSD and flushing, as well as reducing the likelihood of complications associated with local anesthetic absorption.
