The present invention relates to a composite material formed from a thermoplastic reinforced with a natural fibre, and to the production method thereof. More specifically, the invention relates to a composite material reinforced with natural fibre extracted from the bract of the Manicaria saccifera palm, using a polylactic acid thermoplastic as a polymer matrix, and to the method for producing same by means of the chemical treatment of the fibre and heat compression moulding.
