A liquid crystal display (100), comprising a backlight module (108), an array substrate (120), a liquid crystal layer (124), and a color filter layer (122). The array substrate (120) comprises a plurality of transistors used for bringing data signals into conduction during reception of scan signals. The color filter layer (122) comprises a first filter unit (126R), a second filter unit (126B), and a black matrix unit (125a, 125b, 125c). The penetration rate of the second filter unit (126B) is greater than that of the first filter unit (126R). The black matrix unit (125a, 125b, 125c) is connected between the first filter unit (126R) and the second filter unit (126B) and aligned with a data line. The width of the black matrix unit (125a, 125b, 125c) facing the second filter unit (126B) is greater than the width of the black matrix unit (125a, 125b, 125c) facing the first filter unit (126R). An asymmetrical black matrix layer (125) can not only improve the influence of light leakage at a large viewing angle on the color cast of an image of a low-transmittance pixel when high transmittance is not available, but also minimize the reduction of the pixel aperture ratio.
