The present invention discloses the development of rice lineages (Oryza sativa L.) that are resistant to herbicides that inhibit the acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase enzyme (ACCase) by applying gamma radiation to produce the species of Oryza sativa L. modified with the described sequence of SEQ ID. No. 1. The rice lineages comprise the substitution mutation of the nitrogenous base guanine by thymine in the position corresponding to the codon which gives rise to the 2027 amino acid in the carboxyl-transferase site of the ACCase enzyme. The rice plants exhibit a variation in the gene that codes for the acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase enzyme, promoting resistance to ACCase-inhibiting herbicide, in comparison with wild plant varieties.
