The invention relates to a device and a process for determining current distribution in the electrode grids of electrochemical power sources. According to the invention, the device comprises an enclosure (IT) with thermally-insulated walls, inside of which there is a support consisting of two pieces (1, 2) made of transparent plastic, which presses in the plane of a storage cell (6) connected to an exterior load circuit consisting of a power resistor (R), a contactor (C) and a DC ammeter clamp for measuring the current intensity, where the support is mounted in vertical position with the surface of the positive electrode grid oriented towards a thermovision camera (CIR) coupled to the thermally insulated enclosure (IT), the data capturing being synchronized with the closing of the contactor (C).
