OPTO-ELECTRIC SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MEASURING DISPLACEMENT OR DISTANCE, WHICH IS BASED ON THE TABLOT EFFECT AND THE NON-STATIONARY PHOTO ELECTROMOTIVE FORCE EFFECT.
OPTO-ELECTRIC SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MEASURING DISPLACEMENT OR DISTANCE, WHICH IS BASED ON THE TABLOT EFFECT AND THE NON-STATIONARY PHOTO ELECTROMOTIVE FORCE EFFECT.
The present invention refers to an opto-electric system and method for measuring the distance or position, without contact, of an object or the displacement of the object from a predetermined position. The principle of the system and method is based on the Talbot effect and the photo electromotive force effect of non-stationary state. The system and method herein described uses a quasi-monochromatic electromagnetic wave with a sinusoidal wave front of low visibility, which is vibrating as a carrier of the information or position of the displacement of the object under inspection. The main advantages of the method and system of the invention over the state-of-the-art systems are (1) that no signal or image processing is required, since the displacement of the object is directly proportional to the signal generated by the adaptive detector, which allows measurements to be performed in real time; and (2) the measurement error is not increased; since the resolution of the adaptive detect or remains constant (i.e., the minimal change in the displacement that may be detected will remain constant), in other words, the resolution of the method is independent from the dynamic range of measurement.
