摘要
The objective of the invention was to determine the effect of bioaugmentation on the convertibility of anaerobically transformed intermediates of anti-biotic pharmaceutical waste sludge into residuals and biocompost. Cephalosporin is a common name refers to cephradine (C16H19N304S) and cephalexin (C16H17N304S.H20) (British Pharmacopoeia, 1980). The presence of cephalosporin increases total strength (Chemical Oxygen Demand) of the effluent and indirectly increases the cost of the treatment. Based on the critical examination of the invention, a biochemical pathway is determined to further degrade 7-amino-3-deacetoxyc6phalosporanic acid (7-ADCA) and Phenyl acetic acid to bioenergy residuals and recovery for reuse. Hence the biotransformation of cephalosporin either alone or in combination with other energetic compounds, offers the potential for an economical and environmentally friendly disposal alternative with bioenergy residuals recovery. The conventional treatment process is improved by adopting bioaumentation method for the increased conversion to bioenergy residuals. The cephalosporin does not undergo either degradation or to bioenergy residuals in conventional process whereas it converted to bioenergy residues in improved effluent treatment process.
