Configuration for S-Band Frequency Applications A method of designing the stacked Trio DGS patch antenna configuration with enhancement in gain and bandwidth is provided. First the Conventional square patch antenna is designed and simulated. In the next design 2 A C shaped DGS along with two circular slots on the DGS is embedded on the ground plane portion of the antenna. Further In design 3the Stacked patch technique is implemented by varying the distance of separation between the patch (t) with respect to the thickness of the substrate (h)and it is chosen as twice the height of the substrate. The circular slots are created at the Centre of the upper patch and also at the centre top portion, centre bottom portion of the upper patch. The Upper patch is rotated at an angle 45°. In the next design 4 for the same configuration as specified earlier in design 3 the C shaped DGS along with two circular slots on the DGS is embedded on the ground plane portion of the antenna. The enhancement in terms of gain, Directivity, Bandwidth is observed due to the shielding current distribution in the metallic ground will be disturbed due to the shape and geometry of the DGS which influences the impedance and current flow in the / antenna. The enhancement in bandwidth is mainly due to the multilayer configuration in which the due to the distance of separation the air will be present and the permittivity of the air gets added up with the effective permittivity as a result the total permittivity of the entire structure will increase which results in increase in bandwidth.
