The present invention provides method and system (200, 500) for monitoring inactive state of a computing device. The system (500) executes the method comprises ascertaining, within at least one pre-defined time slot of a day, a time period of presence of an inactive mode within said computing device; considering said time slot as inactive based upon said time period exceeding a pre-determined time-period; and generating a log of inactive time slots in relation to at least a part of the day, based upon said consideration. Upon an application request, said log is used to schedule one or more tasks that do not require user intervention.
