A GREEN PROCESS OF NON-INFLAMMABLE VOLATILE BIOGENIC SOLVENTS BASED EXTRACTION AND ISOLATION OF LYCOPENE AND OTHER CAROTENOIDS FROM BIORESOURCES AND OTHER MATERIALS AND USES THEREOF.
The invented process describes a novel approach and process involving use of a green, non-inflammable volatile and biogenic solvent based solid-liquid extraction process of lycopene (a carotenoid) from tomato fruit or tomato fruit peel/pomace/pulp and other congener cells/tissues or bioresources or materials containing lycopene (carotenoids) with additional advantage of better than or at least same yield as with conventional organic solvent and for their stable and easily recoverable storage in the volatile biogenic solvent in presence or absence of light for use in more diversified products and formulations as well as ease of retrieval of lycopene from the solution in the volatile solvent with recovery of the green, biogenic and volatile solvent.
