摘要

Provided is a titanate compound capable of further increasing the capacity of a power storage device when used as an electrode active material thereof. The titanate compound according to the present invention includes at least 60%, based on the number thereof, of particles having an anisotropic shape and a specific surface area of 10-30 m2/g as measured by a nitrogen adsorption BET one-point method, and having a long-axis diameter (L) in the range of 0.1L≦0.9 μm as measured by electron microscopy. The method for producing the titanate compound according to the present invention is provided with a step for pulverizing an alkali metal titanate compound until the specific surface area thereof is at least 10 m2/g, a step for annealing the resultant pulverized product, and a step for then bringing the alkali metal titanate compound into contact with an acidic aqueous solution and substituting at least a portion of alkali metal cations in the alkali metal titanate compound with protons, and the method is preferably further provided with a step for heating the proton-substituted titanate compound.
