PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a real-time earthquake motion prediction method utilizing underground earthquake motion, capable of predicting directly the amplitude of an S-wave on the surface by utilizing the amplitude of a P-wave observed on an earthquake bedrock.SOLUTION: In a real-time earthquake motion prediction method utilizing underground earthquake motion, a relation between an underground P-wave (P) 11 and an underground S-wave (S) 12 is combined with a relation between the underground S-wave (S) 12 and a surface S-wave (S) 14 by using data observed by a surface seismometer 6 and an underground seismometer 5, to thereby predict directly the surface S-wave (S) 14 from the underground P-wave (P) 11.
