PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a money checkup system capable of saving manpower by automatically sorting money which has been delivered to a cash processing center into a bill checkup device or a coin checkup device and a money checkup method.SOLUTION: The money checkup system comprises: an information holding part indicating container identification information provided to each container conveyed by a conveyance part (a box conveyance part 500); a reading section for reading the container identification information of the information holding part provided to the container; and a control section (control device 900) for associating money type information on a type of money stored in the container to be conveyed by the conveyance part with the container identification information. A sorting mechanism (sorting mechanism 520) distributes each container conveyed by the conveyance part to a checkup device, either a bill checkup device 120 or a coin checkup device 220 by sorting on the basis of the money type information associated with the container identification information read by the reading section.
