PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure and a method for reinforcing a shield tunnel, which can suppress a reduction of an inner space area of a tunnel cross section.SOLUTION: A structure for reinforcing a shield tunnel includes: one or more planar bearing surface parts 1 that are elongated in the axial direction of the shield tunnel in such a manner as to fill a section formed from a chord with a constant length in a cross-sectional view of the shield tunnel and that make a part of an inner surface of the shield tunnel almost planar; and one or more flat plate reinforcement members 6 that are fixed by abutting on at least one of the planar bearing surface parts 1 by a plurality of fixing members 2.
