PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power system operation system and power system operation method, capable of promptly performing reactive power adjustment by performing a preliminary adjustment of reactive power by a voltage/reactive power control device when lightning occurs, when a generator is in the AQR mode and performing a phase advancing operation.SOLUTION: A power system operation system and power system operation method, include: judging whether a lightning strike has occurred within the warning area by an LLS warning area judgment unit 23; transmitting by a reactive power control determination unit 24 a control command in which a reactive power suppression value is set to a voltage/reactive power control device 40 when it is determined that a lightning strike has occurred, and a phase advancing operation is being performed in an AQR mode; preliminarily adjusting reactive power by the voltage/reactive power control device 40; receiving from the voltage/reactive power control device 40 a notification that voltage adjustment of a system bus voltage at a reactive power suppression value has been completed; and setting a reactive power setting value of AQR 31 to control the reactive power when reactive power suppression of the generator is possible.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
