PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light absorption layer capable of improving photoelectric conversion efficiency, a compound thin film solar cell, a manufacturing method of the light absorption layer, and a manufacturing method of the compound thin film solar cell.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a light absorption layer 13 containing five elements of Cu, Zn, Sn, S and Se and used for a compound thin film solar cell 10. A rate of change of an S concentration in a film thickness direction of the light absorption layer 13 is 10% or less, and a rate of change of an Se concentration in the film thickness direction of the light absorption layer 13 is 10% or more and 30% or less. The Se concentration is increased from a surface directed to a back electrode 12 of the compound thin film solar cell 10 among surfaces that the light absorption layer 13 has, to a surface directed to a surface electrode 17 of the compound thin film solar cell 10, and a composition of the entire light absorption layer 13 satisfies 0.98≤(S+Se)/(Cu+Zn+Sn).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
