PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that makes it possible to determine whether lightning is a multipoint simultaneous lightning stroke or not.;SOLUTION: A lightning position location system according to the present invention includes: a plurality of reception stations that detect an electromagnet wave due to lightning, and transmit observation data; and lightning position location device that receives the observation data from each of the plurality of reception stations, and locates a lightning position. The lightning position location device is configured to execute processing of: identifying lightning occurring within one second from a first lightning stroke; locating a plurality of lightning strokes using observation data received from the reception station; determining whether the lightning stroke targeted for processing is a multipoint simultaneous lightning stroke or not on the basis of an occurring time difference between the lightning stroke targeted for processing and a previous lightning stroke, a wave height value ratio of the lightning stroke targeted for processing and the first lightning stroke, and a distance between the lightning stroke targeted for processing and the first lightning stroke; and outputting a location result of the lightning together with a determination result due to processing of the determination.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4;COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT
