PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxynitride fine particle exhibiting excellent photocatalyst performance and a manufacturing method therefor, a photocatalyst for water decomposition using the oxynitride fine particle, a photocatalyst electrode for generating hydrogen and oxygen and a photocatalyst module for generating hydrogen and oxygen.;SOLUTION: There is provided an oxynitride fine particle having a plurality of metal elements, one kind of metal element A selected from a group consisting of La, Sr, Ca, Ba and Zn and one kind of metal element B selected from a group consisting of Ti, Ta, Nb and Ga, in which x calculated from the following formula (1) by measuring atom number ratio of the metal element A and the metal element B (A/B) with an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and y calculated by the following formula (2) by measuring atom number ratio of the metal element A and the metal element B (A/B) with an energy dispersion type fluorescent X-ray spectroscopy satisfy the following formula (3).
