PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which can detect the number of passengers on a passenger conveyor to calculate the number of passengers staying at a target area and enables environment adjustment of the target area, based on the calculated number of staying passengers.SOLUTION: An area environment management device, which manages the environment of an area including a building and an event site where a passenger conveyor is installed, is respectively arranged close to a getting-on port to the passenger conveyor and a getting-off port from the passenger conveyor. The area environment management device comprises: a passenger detection sensor which detects passengers getting on and getting off the passenger conveyor; a calculation unit for the number of staying persons which calculates the number of staying persons at the management targeted area every prescribed time, on the basis of getting-on passenger detection data and getting-off passenger data outputted from the passenger detection sensor; and an environment management unit which generates a control command to the environment management device managing the environment of the management targeted area on the basis of the calculated number of staying persons.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
