PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow rate measurement method and device for measuring a flow rate in an immersion nozzle for supplying molten steel into a casting mold from a tundish in a non-contact manner, and also to accurately control a molten steel flow rate having a different component composition between a surface layer and an inner layer of a cast slab in manufacturing a double layered cast slab having a different component composition between the surface layer and the inner layer of the cast slab.SOLUTION: An exciting coil 2 excites an AC magnetic field for intersecting molten steel flow in an immersion nozzle 5 for supplying molten steel into a casting mold from a tundish of continuous casting, detectors 3 (detection coils 3a) at one or more places detect a magnetic field in a direction in parallel with the flow direction of the molten steel or a time change of the magnetic field, and a molten steel flow rate in the immersion nozzle is calculated on a detected signal. When molten steel having different components is supplied from two immersion nozzles to perform continuous casting of a double layered cast slab, a flow rate measurement device 1 performs molten steel flow rate control.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
