The present invention relates to a process for the thread end resolution for a splicer with the following steps: (i) cutting the thread by a cutter of the splicer, wherein the thread is in the catchment area of a holding and opening tube of the splicer, (ii) at the latest after cutting of the filament creats a suction flow to the holding and opening tube, (iii) sucking the thread end by the suction flow applied to the holding and opening tube in the holding and opening tube, (iv) resolving the thread end by the opening flow applied to the holding and opening tube now; the invention is characterized in that between steps (ii) and (iii) the following step is inserted : (II.A) transport of the thread end in the catchment area of the holding and opening tube through interaction of suction flow and a thread return apparatus. In addition, the invention relates to an apparatus for performing the method and a computer program to load on a program-controlled device for implementing the method.
