An application for modeling OData service web applications is disclosed. On provision of a main database name to the application, a list of all related entities can be determined and used to generate data model XML. The data model XML can then be parsed and used to display graphically entities, attributes and a relationship diagram. The application may also generate an entity data model metadata document.. The model can be imported to a service builder tool to generate service classes and methods and code. Other services in the application will allow for service exploration, data query building and data compression to allow service response data compression for use on mobile telephones.
