FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to psychiatry and neurophysiology. In case the psycho-pharmacotherapy is ineffective, electroencephalography (EEG) is performed together with spectral analysis of power of beta-, theta- and alpha-rhythms of EEG from frontal, central, parietal, occipital, anteriofrontal, midtemporal and posttemporal areas of the right and the left hemispheres. For the obtained power values logarithms are taken. Average power values of each rhythm power taken logarithms for are calculated in all cerebral zones. Ratio of the sum of average values of beta- and theta-rhythms logarithms to average value of alpha-rhythm power logarithms is calculated. If the obtained ratio is less than 1.5 the positive effect of transcranial magnetic stimulation in treating patients with depressive disorders is predicted.;EFFECT: method enables providing more reliable prediction that is ensured by determining the power of EEG rhythms in the said areas of the brain, taking their logarithms and calculating the ratio of sum of average values of beta- and theta-rhythms logarithms to average value of alpha-rhythm power logarithms.;1 cl, 3 tbl, 3 ex
