The present invention relates to an asymmetry-based image authentication method using photon-counting double random phase encoding (DRPE) capable of performing image authentication based on a technique encoding and decoding a video image by combining a DRPE technique and an RSA algorithm and photon-counting imaging technique. The method includes: a reference image registration step for registering a first result image generated by encoding a reference image and decoding the encoded reference image; a second result image generation step for generating a second result image by encoding and transmitting the image to be used for authentication, and then decoding the transmitted image; and an authentication step for determining whether the same image is input or not by comparing the first result image and the second result image. The method provides a strong defensive measure against external attacks and advantage of easily managing and distributing authentication keys.
