In an apparatus and a method for severe accident survivability assessment of a nuclear plant device by specimen movement in a temperature gradient region, the apparatus includes a chamber which accommodates a fluid for the simulation experiment of a nuclear plant, a temperature gradient simulation part which can cool or heat the fluid to form the temperature gradient region of the fluid in a first direction in the chamber, and a specimen movement part which moves the specimen in the first direction in the temperature gradient region to measure the effect of the specimen by the fluid. The effect of the specimen according to the temperature of the fluid can be easily measured while the specimen is moved in the temperature gradient region.
