The present invention relates to a secure authentication system using biometric information or information derived from the biometric information or user feature information, and an apparatus and a method for controlling authentication in the system. The apparatus for controlling the authentication includes: a storage unit which stores data for authentication; and a biometric information combination registration unit which generates a biometric information combination by using various measurement mechanisms such as a sensor and the like or a combination of the measurement mechanisms in accordance with a registration demand, generates a biometric information combination template () by preprocessing the generated biometric information combination for computation, generates a key by using a random key generation function, obtains authentication data () through a codeword (c), the biometric information combination template (), and the combination (exclusive OR) after generating the codeword (c) by encoding the generated key with an error correction code, and stores a hash value (Hash(key)), wherein a hash function is applied to the authentication data () and the key, in the storage unit.
