According to embodiments of the present invention, a serial arc malfunction detecting method for a direct current distribution system comprises the following steps: deriving an SD value and an SA value, separately, by performing a wavelet singular value decomposition (WSVD) technique in a measured direct current value of the direct current distribution system; determining a plurality of determination flags, separately, according to the movement of the SD value and movement of the SA value; determining one operation state among a normal state, a serial arc detecting state, a serial arc malfunction state, and a track blocking state according to a combination of the determination flags; and blocking a power track of the direct current distribution system if the determined operation state is the track blocking state. The serial arc malfunction detecting method for a direct current distribution system uses a simple serial arc malfunction determination algorithm having a small amount of operations.
