Method of producing a colloidal solution of metal nanoparticles in which are arranged oppositely a pair of metal electrodes in an aqueous electrolyte solution in which metal salts are dissolved and a current to the two electrodes is applied while stirring the aqueous electrolytic solution using stirring means so that metal ions in solution are reduced to extract metal nanoparticles, characterized by the addition of polysorbate to the aqueous electrolytic solution to coat the surface of the metal nanoparticles extracted in solution , thereby preventing is agglomeration of the metal nanoparticles.
