Mixture for the preparation of a refractory product formed carbon bound or resin bonded, comprising the following components: 1.1 one or more components comprising alumina, 1.2 one or more components comprising carbon, 1.3 one or more antioxidants for suppression of the oxidation of carbon, 1.4 if desired, one or more additional components, characterized in that the mixture further comprises 1.5 at least one component in the form of a spinel of magnesium-zirconium oxide, which is present in the form of a raw material cast.
