In one of the aspect of invention it is provided that an aquespus extract of the leaf of Dioscorea oppositifolia is provided, the aqueous extract is reacted with the precious metal salts with the aqueous extract of tuber from Dioscorea oppositifolia and incubated up to 5 hrs. Concentration optimization was performed by varying the respective salt concentration from 0.3 to 5 mM. Characterization of the bioreduced nanoparticles was carried out employing high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
