The present invention relates to an improved guide apparatus for setting of a particular guide vane in a misaligned position with respect to the rest of the guide vanes in a Francis type hydro turbines, the apparatus comprising a base plate, a pointer holder, a holding pin, a pointer and scale wherein the guide vane lever is held by the pointer holder through the holding pin and the pointer holder is locked in a particular position on the base plate with the help of two screws, wherein the guide vane can be locked in any misaligned position of any of the plurality of guide vanes in run-time without interrupting the test bed operation or disassembling the entire guide apparatus, wherein the guide vane can be set at any misaligned angle for measurement of the hydraulic torque, and wherein the misaligned guide vane can be set to its original configuration in the guide apparatus without the need to re-assemble or recalibrate.
