摘要

A process and system for the treatment of distillery wastewater preferably grain based towards enhancing the organic matter removal from the same by pretreatment with specific strain of filamentous fungi Aspergillus awamori is provided, which degenerates the organic matter into simpler form also facilitating chitosan recovery as a by-product, and also facilitating electricity recovery when said process is preferably further combined with microbial fuel cell (MFC). Advantageously said process is complemented with production of biopolymer chitosan as fungal pretreatment co-product and in the process is able to remove total suspended solids and considerable amount of soluble and particulate organic matter that can be preferably further treated in microbial fuel cell (MFC) for further removal of organic matter to achieve inland disposal standards, and also simultaneously generates bio-electricity.
