The invention relates to method and device for tracking adherence with Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) of software code. In accordance with the method, a processor is configured to assign one or more budgeted NFR values to the at least one software component. Further, changes in the at least one software component of the use case is determined. One or more consumed NFR values are computed for the at least one software component based on the changes and an overall NFR value of the use case is estimated based on the budgeted NFR values and consumed NFR values. The method and device provides tracking and estimation of the NFR adherence in a shared collaborative software development environment.
