The skies are structural attachment required on helicopter for landing on snow or soft soil. Skies are attached to landing gears of helicopter. Based on the slope of snow, depth of snow and helicopter load, skies are subjected to various types of loads with side load and vertical load being a major part. These loads are transferred from the skies to the helicopter structure through the ski attachments. Ski plates are generally made up of composite materials and in some cases aluminium alloy sheets. The ski attachment may be composite or alloy materials. The major components of ski attachment consist of ski plate, two attachment brackets, sleeves, bushes, damper etc. Ski is attached to landing gear through axle by using sleeves. Based on the slope of snow, depth of snow and helicopter load, skies are subjected to'various types of loads with side load and vertical load being a major part. In general for transferring the vertical load the ski attachments are in such a way that the load is equally distributed through the ski attachments. While transferring the side load acting on ski, only one side of ski attachment take part in load transfer and hence the attachment brackets have to be designed for the entire side load. This invention consists of introduction of cross bolt through one side attachment bracket through the sleeve getting.threaded to the threaded sleeve of the other side attachment bracket When the side load act on ski (for instance from LH side to RH side) the LH attachment brackets transfers the. load to landing gear through the sleeve and in-turn to structure of helicopter, since there is cross bolt connecting the other side attachment bracket threaded sleeve which makes the other side attachment bracket to participate in the load transfer, thus both side attachment brackets participate in transfer of the side load and hence equal distribution of side load takes place between the two side attachment brackets . 3 Claims, 4 Figures
