The invention relates to an automatic device for non-destructive measurement of moisture content in jute and allied natural fibre products, comprising a computer apparatus (12) including input and output means including a plurality of memory devices in particular an in-built look-up table (6), the apparatus (12) being enabled to operably connected to peripheral devices via an interface; at least two probes (2a or 2b or 2c) detachably to the device so as to touch upon a test sample with a minimum pressure; a plurality of sensors (1) capable of sensing moisture content data of the test sample when allowed to be touched upon by the at least two probes (d2a); a signal converter (3) operably connected to the sensors (1) and enabled to convert the acquired data relating to moisture- content to electrical signal of varying amplitude with corresponding values; a manipulator (4) receiving the electrical signals from the signal converter (3) manipulating and amplifying to a required form and value; and A/D converter 95) receiving the manipulated analog signals from the manipulator (4) and converting the data to an equivalent digital form; a control and interface unit (7) receiving the digital data from the A/D converter (5) processing and outputting the processed data; and the data stored in the look-up table (6) being compared with the outputted processed data by the control unit (7) and displayed on a display unit (8).The invention further provides a processfor measurement of moisture content in jute and allied natural products.
