Bipolar synchronous electrical machine with horizontal rotor and method of setting the amplitude of sympathetic vibrations of twice the rotational frequency on such a synchronous machine In order to keep the amplitude of the sympathetic vibrations of twice the rotational frequency as low as possible in bipolar synchronous electrical machines with horizontal rotor, this amplitude is set as a function of the vertical-eccentric orientation of the rotor axis (21) in the stator bore, for example by lifting or lowering the bearing feet (43) of the rotor bearings (4) by means of horizontally displaceable wedges (45, 46).
