PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flaw detector for blade groove portion of a turbine rotor and a flaw detection method using the flaw detector capable of precisely detecting a stress corrosion crack by performing a flaw detection work while checking appropriate measuring posture of a flaw detecting probe.;SOLUTION: A flaw detector 10 includes: a position monitoring probe 11 for detecting a lower corner portion 2a of a blade groove portion 2; a flaw detecting probe 12 for detecting a stress corrosion crack c such as cracks; a coupling member 13 that couples the position monitoring probe 11 and the flaw detecting probe 12 with each other; and a control unit 14. The length of the coupling member 13 is adjusted so that the distance from an ultrasonic vibrator of the position monitoring probe 11 to an ultrasonic vibrator of the flaw detecting probe 12 is identical to the height H of a groove of the blade groove portion 2.
