PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic vibration suppression device which does not require a special edge position detection sensor and can appropriately suppress the vibration of not only a steel plate travelling in a normal posture but also a steel plate travelling while meandering in a width direction.;SOLUTION: The electromagnetic vibration suppression device 1 includes: a plurality of electromagnet pairs 2 each of which is a set of electromagnets 2A, 2B opposed to each other in the thickness direction of the steel plate S travelling in the prescribed direction, being arranged side by side in the width direction of the steel plate S; and a control unit 4 which controls currents flowing through respective electromagnets 2A, 2B and, thereby, suppresses vibrations of the steel plate S travelling between the electromagnets 2A, 2B of the respective electromagnet pairs 2, wherein the control unit 4 includes: an edge position calculation unit 41 which calculates and determines the edge position Se of the steel plate S based on inputted width sizes of the steel plate S and meandering amounts of the steel plate S inputted in real time or every prescribed time; and a current amount control unit 42 which individually controls the amount of the current flowing through the electromagnets 2A, 2B based on the edge position Se of the steel plate S determined by the edge position calculation unit 41.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
