PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To combine arrangement information, failure kind information and the like of existing detectors and various equipment and to identify an area where a common failure factor occurs at an earlier stage.SOLUTION: A common failure factor detection system 10 of a nuclear power plant comprises: a plurality of areas A1, A5 and so on individually disposed with a plurality of pieces of plant equipment A1-1, A1-2 and so on; a plurality of areas A4, A8 and so on individually installed with monitoring control devices 2; and a plurality of areas A2, A3, A6 and so on individually disposed with two signal cables or more out of a plurality of signal cables connecting one of the monitoring control devices 2 and individual ones of the plurality of pieces of plant equipment A1-1, A1-2 and so on, and detects a common failure factor in the plurality of areas. The common failure factor detection system 10 further comprises: a common failure factor detection device 1 input with equipment failure signals from the monitoring control devices 2; and an equipment information database 4 storing failure kinds, related failure information, power supply bus information and area information for each equipment, and identifies the area where the common failure factor occurs from the equipment failure signals and the equipment information database 4.
