The present invention generally relates to an acoustic transducer. In some aspects, the acoustic transducer includes a diaphragm coupled to the diaphragm, and a piezoelectric actuator to cause movement of the diaphragm. In some aspects, the converter also comprises members for limiting the bending of the actuator. In one embodiment, the transducer further comprises a support. In a further embodiment, the converter employs a mechanical amplification. In a further embodiment, the diaphragm is curved.
